Who are you?
Hey, I’m Gemma and I’m the Project Coordinator for Diane Butterworth Ltd
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’ve always had a creative side. Baking, sewing (I owned a small business selling my handmade soft furnishings many years ago!) and interior design have always been something that I’ve loved.
After doing my Diploma in interior design, I went on to work in a building services consultancy where I learnt to use AutoCAD and Revit. I assisted the engineers in transforming their design from paper into a 3D model which helped the client to visualise the services in a more realistic way and highlighted any clashes in the design.
My interest in 3D modelling and design lead me to the opportunity to work alongside Diane and the lovely team!
What does a normal day at DB Ltd look like for you?
I recently started my new role at DB Ltd so I’m still finding my feet! Currently, my role varies throughout the day. I’m usually emailing clients to discuss projects, generating quotations & scheduling jobs in. I also assist my colleagues with designing space plans and creating new Revit families.
What are your work ambitions?
I’m keen to learn more about space planning and the processes behind looking at the clients brief & deciding what type of product would/wouldn’t work and why. I’d also like to work on a variety of buildings to broaden my knowledge and undertake some larger projects eventually.
What do you do for fun?
I tend to use my time at the weekend to do the things I enjoy. I love to bake something yummy as a treat, go for a long walk to blow the cobwebs away with my husband and little girl, then stop off at a cosy pub for a drink.
I am a big fan of the social media app Instagram and try to update that regularly. I’ve also recently started playing around with water colour painting, I’m hoping to create something I can have on display at home.
What’s your favourite drink?
Ooo that’s a difficult one! On one hand I am boring and enjoy a cold glass of water, on the other I’m not one to turn down a small glass of Rosé!
