Diane Butterworth Ltd is an international CAD agency providing digital support to commercial manufacturers, specialising in moveable furniture assets. Digital support includes, but is not limited to, Revit Family Creation, Space Planning and Interior Design, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) Project Management.

The roles we undertake within a BIM project includes creating/placing BIM objects, adding/updating product data and collaborating with contractors within a Common Data Environment (CDE).

We are committed to following both British and International standards (PAS 1192-7 and ISO 19650) and maintaining a high-level of technical understanding by attending industry specific forums, working groups, and implementing a comprehensive training structure for our whole team.

Diane Butterworth Ltd understand its responsibly within the workplace and office furniture industry to be a champion of BIM, implement digitalisation, and be an expert to those requiring BIM support. Our aim is to be a UK industry leader among furniture manufacturers and resellers in providing guidance and/or taking full responsibility of their BIM journey.

Thank you for engaging with Diane Butterworth Ltd to provide CAD support, we are delighted to be working with you. This section sets out the terms of engagement in which Diane Butterworth Ltd will provide services to you and our respective responsibilities.

Your confirmation of project approval via email acts as a digital signature that acknowledges you have read and agree to the terms and conditions stated in this document. These terms and conditions have been made available to you on every quotation.

1. Our Services

We offer two main services, Space Planning and Revit Families. The work we complete for you will fall into either section a. or section b. Project-specific fees will be outlined within your personalised quotation.

a. Space Planning – Our space planning service includes but is not limited to: Site survey (interior office space only), client meetings, 2D planning, 3D visualisation and design, conceptual and photorealistic rendering, walkthroughs, 360° panorama tours, and BIM strategy consultation.

i. Fees – Please get in touch for our hourly rate which will be charged at 30-minute intervals. All projects have a minimum timed fee of 30 minutes. Project timeframes will be estimated in good faith and a quotation will be provided.

ii. Deliverables – Deliverables will vary depending on the service selected. These include but are not limited to: Image files (such as Jpeg), 2D DWG, MP4 and URL links. The deliverables are the final works, any preliminary works, source files or documents developed which may or may not be shown and/or delivered to the client for consideration do not form part of the final works.

iii. Amendments – A draft will be sent to you before plans and images are rendered or finalised, at this stage we allow for one round of reasonable amendments. Any further amendments may incur additional charges at our hourly rate, in which case, we will notify you in advance and provide an estimate and a supplementary quotation.

iv. Lead Times – Our standard lead time for all project work is three working days, this may vary depending on the project and studio availability. A completion date will be provided after the quotation for the project has been approved by the client. The relevant deliverables with be sent either via email or a cloud sharing platform.

b. Revit Families – We work with information supplied by manufacturers, including original 3D CAD files, images and dimensions, to model the desired product natively, using Revit Architecture (AutoCAD may be used in some cases). Data forms will be issued to the client and are required to be completed before modelling begins. Any additional CAD formats requested are a direct export from Revit, these files may have minor discrepancies caused by exporting. All exported CAD files will be placed on appropriate layers. All variations from one range will be placed within one file, if you require separate named files additional fees may incur. All Revit Families comply with the latest UK BIM standards. The Revit Families we create will be uploaded automatically to our free of charge online Revit Resources platform. If you do not want your files to be placed on our platform, please email the team at and they will be removed within five working days.

i. Fees – On receiving all relevant information, a fixed rate quotation will be provided. Prices are calculated by estimating the duration a file will take to model. All projects have a minimum timed fee of 30 minutes. Each range is subject to an additional admin fee which covers quality checking and cloud storage of relevant files. Please get in touch for our hourly rate and admin fee.

ii. Deliverables – Deliverables will vary depending on items listed within the quotation. As standard each Revit Family, regardless of numbers of types within the file, will include 1 x RFA file, 1 x preview image and 1 x Revit guide. The deliverables are the final works, any preliminary works, source files or documents developed which may or may not be shown and/or delivered to the client for consideration do not form part of the final works.

iii. Amendments – We take great care to ensure the files we model are in line with the information you have provided us. If any discrepancies occur, these will be updated as soon as possible at no additional fee. However, should the information you provided us with be incorrect and result in additional work, this may incur additional charges at our standard hourly rate; we will notify you in advance and provide an estimate.

iv. Lead Times – Each quotation will be supplied with an estimated duration time of the project. A completion date cannot be issued until the project has been approved via email confirmation, we will then review our studio diary and provided a fixed date.

2. Revit Family Quotations

Quotations are based on creating native Revit Families for the specified ranges. Each range will have supporting documentation on how to use the Revit Families and image thumbnails.

a. All files will meet Level 2 BIM guidelines (V.2) and include the relevant parameters to meet National Building Specification.

3. Period of Engagement

The agreement between Diane Butterworth Ltd and yourself commences on the date of the first confirmation of any project work via email confirmation. We reserve the right to make changes to the terms in this policy without notice. This is an ongoing contract with no expiration date, this is not a monthly contract.

4. Payment Terms

An invoice will be sent out at the end of each month with a summary of projects completed. Invoices must be paid within 15 days of receiving them. We reserve the right to charge a late payment fee of 10% per month on any outstanding payments. We also reserve the right to suspend our services to you if invoices or fees are unduly delayed. We intend to exercise these rights only when it is fair and reasonable to do so. If you do not accept that an invoiced fee is fair and reasonable, you must notify us within 7 days of receipt, failing that, you will be deemed to have accepted the payment fee. Diane Butterworth Ltd is VAT registered, any prices quoted exclude VAT, unless clearly stated.

5. Expenses

Any expenses incurred throughout the course of Diane Butterworth Ltd carrying out work for you, including any additional travel to your office or printed media, will be agreed in advance and added to your next invoice.

6. Employment Status

It is agreed that the employees of Diane Butterworth Ltd are independent contractors and not employees of your own business. At your approval, we will speak with and/or email your clients on your behalf and act as a representative of your business. Neither party may make any commitment on behalf of the other party.

7. Confidentiality

Communication between Diane Butterworth Ltd is confidential and we take all necessary steps to keep your information private. We will only disclose information on your behalf after authorisation has been established. Diane Butterworth Ltd reserves the right to mention you as a client for promotional activity, training or for other business purposes. We will contact you for the right to use your logo in any of our marketing material, including our website. We will not disclose any confidential information. We reserve the right to demonstrate how we’ve added value or solved a problem for you/your business as part of our marketing strategy on the condition that we do not disclose your company or your client’s names. This is for, but not limited to, case studies, blogs and newsletters.

a. Space Planning – We regularly update our website and social media platforms with projects we have recently completed. We reserve the right to use any plans, images and digital media created for you any on our digital media platforms. We will ensure you and your client names are not used or visible. If you would prefer us to not share a certain project, please email the team at

b. Revit Families – We have an online resource section of our website called ‘Downloadable Revit Resources’ where visitors are free to download Revit Families we have created for our clients. This is to increase the investment outcome for our clients by ensuring their files are readily available and accessible to the industry, this is a free service for all our clients. On approval of a quotation for Revit Family content creation, you agree to have your files uploaded onto this platform. Your company logo will be used and a link to your website provided. 8. Insurance

Diane Butterworth Ltd has up to date insurance as registered Interior Designers, this includes public liability, professional indemnity and employers liability. Please email to receive a confirmation certificate of insurance if required. It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate insurance in place, especially for professional indemnity to cover the legal costs and expenses to rectify any mistakes created by providing Diane Butterworth Ltd with the incorrect information.

9. Limitation of Liability

Diane Butterworth Ltd will provide CAD support with reasonable care and skill. Our liability to you is limited to losses, damages, costs and expenses caused by negligence or wilful default. However, to the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be responsible for any losses, damages, costs, expenses or penalties where you, or others, supplied incorrect and incomplete information or failed to supply any appropriate information. Although Diane Butterworth Ltd is highly skilled, it is your responsibility to check all works we provide to ensure the information provided by both parties is correct.

10. Measurement Survey

Measurement surveys are for gathering dimensions and interior details to complete an office space plan that is not currently available. We will notify you in advance if a site survey is required, provide an estimated cost and a quotation for the additional measurement survey. It is the client’s responsibility to double-check these measurements before any works are carried out or furniture ordered. Only areas design for office equipment will be included (building core, toilets etc will not be measured). Unless specified, surveys will not include power, data, lighting or existing furniture locations. The digital drawings produced from the site survey are not included within the measurement survey fee.

11. Conflict of interest

If we are approached by multiple customers to work on the same project, we will advise all parties of the conflict and work on a first come first basis and commit to the initial enquiry. Where conflicts are identified and cannot be managed in a way that protects your interests, we reserve the right to decline the project.

12. Privacy & Data protection

We are committed to providing you with a top-quality service. However, should there be any cause for complaint please contact us, so we can investigate and promptly do everything reasonable to put it right.

1. How and when we collect your information

a. Google Analytics – We use Google Analytics to help us understand the traffic on our website and monitor webpage usage to enhance the functionality of our website and improve your user experience. We do not capture your personal data, transfer it to anyone else or use any third-party cookies. By continuing to use this website you consent to the use of our cookies, however, you can disable these in your browser settings.

b. When you give it to us – Whether you sign up to our mailing list or contact us directly to enquire about a service, you provide us with certain information voluntarily. This includes your name, email address, and any other information you choose to give to us.

c. When you apply to join our team – We may ask for personal and sensitive data from you to assess your suitability for our vacancies. This data can include (but is not limited to) your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, previous employment, and education history. We will collect data such as your ethnic origin only for the purposes required by law.

2. We will never disclose your Personally identifiable information (PII) to a third party, unless:

a. It is required in connection with work we are doing for you or for your organisation.

b. We were to transfer ownership of our business to another party who would need your information to continue interacting with you.

c. Required to do so by lawful authority or under any of the exemptions contained within the General Data Protection Regulation.

3. What we use your information for

a. Your PII will be used to contact you in connection with any enquiry you have made with us and any work we are doing for you or your organization.

b. To keep you up-to-date with our business news via our monthly newsletter.

c. At any time, you may opt-out of our marketing list or update your email preferences by clicking the unsubscribe button.

4. Lifespan of your information

a. We keep your information on file whilst you are a client as we need it to deliver you with the best service Diane Butterworth Ltd can offer.

b. When we no longer need your information and we have no legal or regulatory obligations, we will either remove it from our systems or depersonalize it, so we cannot identify you.

5. Making a complaint

a. If you have a complaint regarding any aspect of your personal data being used by Diane Butterworth Ltd or this privacy policy, please email the team at

A retainer partnership gives ultimate flexibility and best value for money. We understand that you maybe need to invest in 2D planning and 3D design services before securing a project. Therefore, a selection of our packages include 3D rendering, 360 Tours and Walkthroughs free of charge.

Additionally, a retainer can provide financial security and allow you to manage your company’s budgets by knowing a set monthly fee for your 2D space planning and 3D design requirements.

1. All hourly based work and 3D service units will be tracked by the designers at Diane Butterworth Ltd. Any site visits are recorded at a standard time of 8 hours regardless of location (UK only, excluding Northern Ireland). Other expenses may accrue, refer to company terms and conditions.

2. Each retainer includes a set number of hours/3D service units. This figure can be used in any combination. For example, Basic service provides 20 units, this could be 15 hours of space planning/creative design and 5 x 3D Renders. 3D services units with a retainer exclude photorealistic rendering. BIM Collaboration projects and the creation of Revit Families are not included in a retainer.

3. The set hours will be available for the duration of the given month, any hours not used will not roll over to the next month. Work exceeding the allocated hours will be charged at the standard Diane Butterworth Ltd rate (see Client Fees ). Notification of additional hours charged will be given ahead of the project commencing.

4. 3D service units are broken down using the following structure; 3D Render = 1 unit, 360 Tour = 2 units, 30 Second Walkthrough = 4 units.

5. The retainer is not a fixed monthly contract and can be cancelled at any time. The final retainer invoice will be submitted at the end of the month in which the retainer is cancelled.
