Diane Butterworth Ltd Annual Survey 2025

This year, we're focusing on Manufacturers' Revit Families – how they're used, shared, and valued.

As more companies integrate digital construction practices, the demand for structured, accessible, and high-quality Revit Families continues to grow.

But how do manufacturers currently manage these digital assets? What challenges do they face? And what trends are shaping the future of BIM content?

Diane Butterworth Ltd is conducting a focused industry survey to answer these questions.

This deep dive into manufacturers’ processes will help uncover key insights into how businesses create, store, and update their Revit Families.

Why Surveys Matter in the BIM Industry

Surveys are a powerful tool for gathering first-hand data. They allow companies to:

  • Understand Industry Trends: By collating feedback from manufacturers, we can discover common practices and upcoming trends in Revit Family management.
  • Pinpoint Challenges: Manufacturers may face challenges with the cost of development, lack of specialist expertise, or difficulties in managing updates. A survey helps highlight these pain points.
  • Improve Service Offerings: By analysing feedback, businesses can refine their BIM strategies, ensuring their Revit Families meet industry needs.
  • Contribute to Best Practices: The findings will inform discussions on standards, data integration, and future innovations in digital construction.

Why Your Participation Matters

By taking part in this survey, manufacturers contribute valuable knowledge that benefits the entire industry. The insights gained will help shape discussions on best practices, inform product development, and support a more efficient approach to Revit Family management.

This is an opportunity to make your voice heard and ensure your challenges and needs are reflected in future Revit Family developments.

The Focus of Our Revit Family Survey

Our survey is specifically designed for manufacturers who already produce Revit Families as part of their standard offering.

This ensures the results are highly relevant, focusing on:

Current Revit Family Adoption

  • What percentage of a manufacturer’s fixed product range is available as Revit Families?
  • How are these files created—in-house or outsourced?
  • Do these Revit Families include critical non-graphical data, such as COBie, asset data, or pricing?

Standards and Updating Processes

  • Are manufacturers following recognised BIM standards?
  • How frequently are their Revit Families reviewed and updated?

Storage and Accessibility

  • Where are Revit Families stored and how are they shared with clients?
  • Do manufacturers ensure their customers always have access to the most up-to-date versions?

Tracking Usage and Customer Insights

  • Do manufacturers track who downloads and uses their Revit Families?
  • What level of insight do they have into customer engagement and feedback?

Future of Revit Families and AI Integration

  • Do manufacturers see Revit Families as a key part of their future strategy?
  • Are they interested in AI or automation tools to improve their BIM content management?
